1. A UML tool – UMLet from http://umlet.com/ . This is the most user friendly UML tool I have come across. Please make sure to donate a few bucks.
2. Couple of UML Books – UML Distilled: A Brief Guide to the Standard Object Modeling Language (3rd Edition)
